The ceremony took place at 6:30am at the Mahisorn Phakdi Auditorium, Phuket Provincial Hall, presided over by Phuket Governor Saransak Srikruanetra.
Also joining were The governor’s wife Ms Ruedeewan; Vice Governors Adul Chuthong, Samawit Suphanphai and Suwit Phansengiam; Rear Adm Praphan Srisuwipa, Deputy Director of the Phuket Provincial Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC); together with heads of government agencies, military and police officers, members of the private sector, local leaders and Buddhist laypeople.
Phra Ratchawacharasutthiwong, Abbot of Wat Phra That Hariphunchai (Dhammakaya Temple) under Royal Patronage in Lamphun, led a monastic assembly of 15 monks in the religious rites.
The ceremony began with alms-giving to monks, followed by the lighting of incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem. The presiding monk also presented golden offerings before the royal portraits of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej The Great and Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother.
The participants then joined in chanting Buddhist mantras, receiving the precepts, listening to a sermon extolling the Ten Royal Virtues, and observing a 10-minute period of meditation.
Phuket officials explained that the ceremony was held as part of nationwide activities under the ‘One Hundred Thai Hearts, Continuing the Royal Dharma Across the Land’ initiative, aimed at expressing gratitude to Her Majesty The Queen Mother and continuing her royal aspirations to promote understanding of the principles of royal virtue in governance ‒ upholding moral conduct for the happiness, stability, and prosperity of the Thai people.
