The Thao Thep Krasattri-Thao Sri Sunthorn 'Heroines' Festival celebrates the two sisters, Chan and Mook, who led the fighters of Phuket in repelling the Burmese.

The decisive battle against the Burmese took place on March 13, after which the invaders withdrew.

Most events centre on the Heroines Monument on Thepkrasattree Rd and on the Thalang Historical Park in Baan Riang, to the west of Thalang.

Tomorrow (March 13) at 9.09am, there will be a special wreath laying ceremony at the Heroines Monument intersection, followed by a food and OTOP market at the statue starting at 5pm.

Every evening from tomorrow until March 15 there will be a special sound and light performance, held at the Thalang Historical Park starting at 8.30pm. This performance is usually a re-enactment of the famous battle.
