The final score showed that not only do Phuket have the better beaches, but on the night also the better football team, with the Ronins coming away with a well-deserved 3 points winning 2-0.

The Ronins started the first half brightly and captain and fan’s favourite Yusuke Sato was unlucky not to give the Ronins an early lead when his header from a corner went just wide of the goal.

Pattaya also created some chances but were unable to find the magic to give them any real scoring opportunities.

Phuket showed some great flair throughout the first half with some great passing and defensive tactics, and the home fans would have been disappointed to see them go in at 0-0 at the first half whistle.

But they showed the same passion at the start of the second half, and Brazilian Andres Lopes and Belgium Beline Mdebl were immediately giving the Pattaya defense problems with their speed and quick breaks.

And it was Lopes who gave the home fans their first chance to celebrate.

In the 65th minute Midfielder Wasan Samansil played a nice pass to Lopes inside the box and he made no mistake in slotting the ball past Dolphins keeper Pattara Piyapatrakitti to give the Ronins a 1-0 lead.

The Dolphins tried hard to make a comeback, but a long ball forward gave Phuket a break. Forward Pipat Thonkanya took the ball nicely and made a great pass to Beline Mdebl who went around the keeper and slotted the ball home bringing the score to 2-0.

It was 2-0 at the final whistle and the result means that as of last night Phuket Phuket had jumped from 10th to 6th in the league table. However, this could change depending on results from today’s (April 5) games.
