The delegation, which is visiting Thailand on a study tour from July 6-12, met with the governor at Phuket Provincial Hall on Wednesday (July 8) for discussions on expanding tourism ties between the two countries.
The Jordanian delegation included Thai Ambassador to Amman Chiraporn Chirampaikool, Royal Thai Embassy in Amman Counsellor Samerjit Limlikhit and Amman Tourism Director Emad Rawahneh.
Also attending the meeting were Phuket Tourism and Sports Office Director Somchai Semmanee, Tourism Authority of Thailand Phuket Office Director Siriwan Singharaj, Phuket Temporary Passport Office Head Kanita Saphaisarn and Phuket Provincial Public Relations Officer Wimol Nookaew.
During the meeting, Phuket officials outlined the province’s tourism strengths, highlighting its Peranakan cultural heritage, community-based tourism initiatives and multicultural society.
The discussions also focused on practical areas of cooperation, including sharing expertise in managing walking street tourism, developing Arabic-speaking tour guides, upgrading tourist attractions to meet Halal standards and jointly promoting Phuket to visitors from Jordan and other Middle Eastern countries.
Governor Chotinrin also highlighted Phuket’s ambitions to become an international medical hub, citing the island’s healthcare facilities and international schools as key attractions.
