The win gave Phuket FC three points and shot them up to 5th place (16 points) in the Yamaha League-1 standings with two matches set to be played later this week.
Five minutes into the match Chiang Mai FC were already on the board as Chiang Mai captain, Jaroonsak (No. 36), scored on a beautifully-timed header from a corner kick.
Just two minutes later, however, Phuket FC's Wasan Samansin (No. 11) would equalise for the Ronins during a chaotic scramble towards the goal. Wasan tapped the ball just over Chiang Mai goalkeeper Kritsada Nonchai and into the back of the net in the 7th minute of the match.
Both teams had several chances in the first half, with Phuket playing well off the counterattack but just couldn't get the score.
In the second half, Nlome-Ndebi – who scored the game-winner in last Wednesday's (April 22) match against Samut Songkhram – scored a rebound-header from a free kick into the box. Phuket's Andres “Andrezinho” Lopes (No. 14) chipped the ball into the box and connected with captain Yusuke Sato (No. 36) who's attempt was blocked by Kritsada, but Nlome-Ndebi was waiting in the right spot as he finished the job in the 64th minute to put Phuket ahead.
Two Chiang Mai players were sent off with red cards following harsh tackles in the waning moments of the match as both Issawa Singtong (No. 8) and Janewitt Boonsuwan (No. 23) headed back to the locker rooms for early showers.
In addition, Phuket FC defender Samsen Nima (No. 3) was carried off in a stretcher following a head-on collision during a set-piece. Nima was treated on the sidelines for several minutes after the match, though Phuket FC later confirmed that Samsen's condition is not serious.
The win extends Phuket's home win-streak to four games as they have also defeated Thai Honda (3-2 on March 11), Pattaya United (2-0 on April 4) and Samut Songkhram (2-1 on April 22).
Phuket FC are now on the road to face Prachuap FC on Wednesday (April 29) at 6pm.
The Ronins will return to Surakul Stadium this Saturday (May 2) to take on the “War Eagles” Krabi FC (kickoff 7pm) in the Andaman Derby – a highly-anticipated match-up that will see former Phuket striker Ludovick Takam grace the field for Krabi.
