Sergei Beliaev, originally from Russia, visited the Kamala Police Station this Tuesday (Aug 15) to report a burglary that occurred at his villa at night. The thief escaped unidentified with a Louis Vuitton handbag, which also held the man’s Thai bank card and his wife’s Thai driving license.
Mr Beliaev informed the police that he was awoken around 4.30am by his dog’s barking. Upon being alerted, he proceeded to the living room and spotted a thief hastily exiting through the main door.
Considering that his wife and their one-year-old child were still asleep in the bedroom, Mr Beliaev chose not to pursue the intruder but contacted the police in the morning.
Upon receiving the expatriate’s complaint, officers from the Kamala Police inspected the crime scene and assured they would study the CCTV records to track down and arrest the suspect.
In his efforts to assist the authorities, Mr Beliaev attempted to contact his neighbors who might possess relevant CCTV records. However, all the people he approached asserted that their cameras had not been recording on that night or were dummies.
Mr Beliaiev contacted The Phuket News today (Aug 18) asking to share his appeal to Phuket residents who may have encountered the stolen bank card and driving license discarded by the culprit or the Louis Vuitton bag being offered for sale on the Facebook Marketplace.
The bank card was issued by Kasikornbank in the name of Sergei Beliaev, and the Thai driving license was issued by the Department of Land Transport of Thailand in the name of Anna Krasilnikova.
People with relevant information can contact the Kamala Police Station by calling 076-385310 or through Facebook.
Mr Beliaev conveyed to The Phuket News that the invasion left him taken aback, as he had considered Kamala to be a secure haven for his expat family, including their toddler.
The man expressed his hope that the police swiftly apprehend the suspect to ensure the safety of all residents and to uphold the good image of Phuket as a tourism destination.
