With its plush beach loungers, poolside beds and glamorous onsite accommodation at Angsana Laguna Phuket Hotel, it’s no wonder Xana is fast becoming one of Phuket’s most luscious hotspots.
I recently attended the launch of their weekly Sunday Fun Brunch, which marked the start of high season and operates every Sunday from 11:30am – 3:30pm.
The restaurant is located right on the beach, so you can enjoy an array of cuisines while looking out at the beautiful views.
Once we were offered a drink from the attractive drinks menu, we headed to the buffet and proceeded to fill our bellies. From seafood, to refreshing salads, to live meat stations, the buffet really did have everything.
One particular tasty station included a selection of bbq chicken and pork pieces, which came alongside mashed potato and a few baby roast potatoes. Next to that, you had the option of filling your plate up with: roasted vegetables; corn on the cob; tender beef steak; fried rice; egg fried rice; and baby pork garlic sausages.
The salad station was something I had never seen before. A bookshelf that had stacks of cups filled with lettuce leaves, which could then be topped up with either salmon or chicken, croutons and Parmesan cheese. The perfect Caesar salad.
I then headed to the burger station, where you could either choose from the ready-made burgers or option to have one made right in front of you. The beef was cooked to perfection; it just melted in your mouth.
Another station, which was particularly tasty, was the meat and cheese station. It featured a large selection of cheeses: from Brie, to Camembert, to cheddar, to Gouda. Whatever you desire, they had it. Alongside the cheese, was an array of cured meats: from salami, to Parma ham, to chorizo. Then came the selection of crusty and warm breads – top all that with a glass of red and you’re sorted.
The dessert station was divine, a generous selection of cheesecakes, strawberry crepes, trifles, tropical fruits, chocolate sponge cake and more.
Overall the extensive appetising buffet not only included quality fresh ingredients but the selection left you spoiled for choice. The service was exceptional, always catering to your every need. It was a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
