The ceremony, held within the grounds of the Grand Palace, was led by Phuket Governor Nirat Pongsitthaworn, who represented the province in laying a wreath before the royal portrait and paying respects to the royal remains.

The Phuket delegation comprised judicial officials, prosecutors, military personnel, police officers, deputy governors, heads of government departments and state enterprises, local administrators, village heads, members of the Provincial Red Cross Committee, representatives of the Ministry of Interior’s Women’s Association, and private sector figures.

Governor Nirat also joined the traditional merit-making rites to dedicate merit to Her Majesty, in a gesture of loyalty and gratitude for her longstanding contributions to the Thai people.

The ceremony was conducted in a solemn and respectful atmosphere, with all participants dressed in mourning attire. Attendees observed formal protocols while expressing condolences to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

Officials highlighted the enduring legacy of the Queen Mother, noting her extensive royal initiatives that improved quality of life across Thailand, supported traditional handicrafts as a source of income, and promoted the conservation of natural resources and the environment.

Governor Nirat said participation in the ceremony reflected a collective commitment across all sectors to honour royal contributions and uphold the principles set out in royal initiatives.

He added that Phuket provincial officials would continue to apply these initiatives as guiding frameworks in provincial development, with the aim of strengthening social wellbeing and ensuring long-term stability and prosperity.
