This includes any vehicle on the road, from trucks and motorbikes.

Pol Col Sermpan Sirikong, superintendentof the Phuket TownPolice, told The Phuket News, “I ordered my men today (August 5) to watch out for those texting or chatting while on the road.

“They have started cracking down on this in Bangkok, and I believe other provinces will follow, so I am doing it right now.

“If we find anyone breaking the Land Traffic Act, we will act. Drivers are not allowed to use a mobile phone while driving, except in the case of a very short conversation [for example, to tell the caller they will call back]. Offenders will be fined from B400 to B1,000.”
