Offences included illegally operating businesses and tour operations, drug-related crimes and immigration violations, and traffic violations.

The week-long crackdown, from Feb 10-16, aimed at maintaining law and order in the popular tourist destination, Pol Maj Gen Sinlert said.

The operation, carried out, was a joint effort also involving Phuket Immigration and Tourist Police, he added.

The campaign was part of a broader government policy to combat illegal foreign activities and transnational crimes, ensuring the safety of both residents and tourists, Pol Maj Gen Sinlert said.

During the operation, police recorded a total of 103 criminal offenses and 1,625 traffic violations committed by foreigners.

The arrests included:

- 30 cases of immigration law violations

- 9 cases of illegal tour operations

- 8 cases of unauthorised business activities

- 8 cases of drug-related offenses

- 10 cases of drunk driving

- 18 arrests based on outstanding warrants

- 1,625 traffic law violations

- 20 additional offenses related to other infractions

Officials emphasised that law enforcement agencies in Phuket remain committed to cracking down on illegal foreign activities, Pol Maj Gen Sinlert noted.

In 2024 alone, authorities arrested 2,422 foreigners for criminal offenses and issued 32,127 traffic citations, he said.

Tourists visiting Phuket were urged to familiarise themselves with local laws and avoid any illegal activities, he added.

Pol Maj Gen Sinlert encouraged the public to report any suspected crimes involving foreigners to the nearest police station or by calling hotline 191.

“Phuket police reaffirm our commitment to maintaining peace, order and safety, ensuring the province remains a top travel destination for visitors from around the world,” Maj Gen Sinlert said.
