“The PLTO is confident there will be no passengers left behind,” said PLTO Chief Adcha Buachan.
PLTO officials hasinspected 153 buses and drivers in total, with 55 buses and drivers checked at the original bus terminal in Phuket Town and 98 more checked at the Phuket Bus Terminal 2 on Thepkrasattri Rd in Ratsada, he said.
“The PLTO actually began its campaign of increased strictness in inspecting buses and non-regular buses before the Songkran festival,” Mr Adcha noted.
“For the safety of passengers on every route, we have already regularly inspected buses, and especially buses that are double-deckers, to prevent accidents by inspecting both the vehicle and the driver,” he said.
The condition of the vehicle must be ready for service, as must the drivers in terms of readiness, including that they must not be involved with drugs,” Mr Adcha said.
“The PLTO has cooperated with all bus companies to ensure there are enough buses for the large number of passengers on the last day of the Songkran holidays.
“We are confident that passengers who will travel into Phuket or departing from Phuket will have absolutely no problems of being left behind, and the PLTO has prepared staff to provide care 24 hours a day,” Mr Adcha concluded.
