Wanchai, a 13-year-old student at British International School, Phuket (BISP), defeated Neegaard-Petersen Rasmu of Denmark in a play-off on the par-four 18th hole at Royal Hua Hin Golf course after they finished tied on seven-under-par 281 after 72 holes.
Thailand also won titles through Chonjareun Baramithanaset (boys’ class B), Sutthinee Ngarmkham (three-day overall), Dechawat Petchprayoon (boys' class C), Unyamaee Wongaroon (girls' class C), Prij Kosolsasithorn (boys' class D) and Natchanok Tanwannarak (girls' class D).
Yuka Saso of the Philippines, who won the Kardini Cup in Khon Kaen a few months ago, took the women's class B title while her compatriot Pauline del Rosario triumphed in the girls’ class A. Rosario also won the Thailand Ladies Amateur Open in Pattaya last week.
In the boys’ team event, the title went to Denmark duo of Rasmus and Anders Emil who carded 586, while Hong Kong (591) beat Malaysia (591) on a countback to finish second and third respectively.
In the women’s division, the Taiwan team comprising Chen Hsuan and Huang Yun-chu (593) claimed the title with Japan (600) and Singapore (605) ending second and third respectively.
