The 3rd Naval Area Command of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN 3rd NAC) received an alert about a marine incident in Krabi waters at around 6pm on Thursday (Nov 24).
According to the information received, a Phuket sailing catamaran, Lady Miya, struck rocks at Ha Island in Khlong Nai Sa. The six people on board – four foreign men, a Thai woman, and a Thai man – were in need of assistance.
None of the passengers or crew suffered injuries. However, Lady Miya sustained damage to its port side and stern, as reported by the RTN 3rd NAC.
The salvage operation, lasting several hours, successfully concluded by 2am on Friday (Nov 25). RTN 3rd NAC personnel and Koh Lanta National Park officials employed pumps, underwater compressed air tanks, and several 200-liter barrels to prevent Lady Miya from sinking.
Following the rescue operation, the catamaran was towed to a local port for necessary repairs. The report by the RTN 3rd NAC did not provide an estimate of the damage, and no information was disclosed regarding the cause of the incident.
