Pornthip Rattajak, PRBC Director, explained, “World Blood Donor Day commemorates the birthday of Dr Karl Landsteiner. He was an Austrian who received the Nobel Prize in 1930 for his discovery of the A, B and O blood groups.
The slogan this year is “Safe Blood for Saving Mothers”, the aim being to support mothers in danger of losing their lives during delivery.
Donors will each receive a T-shirt will be given and an official photograph of them giving blood.
In addition, anyone pledging to donate their eyes or other organs after death will receive a free lunch at the PRBC (see map) on June 13, from 8:30am to 4:30 pm.
