In a notice released today, the airport confirmed that Phuket Province will host the international music festival from Friday to Sunday (Jan 16-18), with large crowds expected to travel to and from the event venue in Cherng Talay.
Passengers are being urged to avoid Route 4030 on the Cherng Talay–Baan Don route, which airport officials said is likely to experience heavy traffic throughout the three-day event.
Travellers who must use the route are advised to allow at least three to four hours for their journey to Phuket International Airport to avoid missing flights.
The warning comes as authorities continue preparations for EDC Thailand 2026, which will be held at Rhythm Park in Cherng Talay and is expected to attract at least tens of thousands of attendees each day.
As previously reported by The Phuket News, provincial officials have designated safety and traffic management as key priorities for the event, with integrated operations involving police, transport officials, medical teams and event organisers.
Traffic police and administrative officials will be deployed across Cherng Talay and surrounding areas to manage congestion, with designated parking zones and pick-up and drop-off points aimed at reducing roadside bottlenecks.
Phuket police have also confirmed that hundreds of officers will be on duty to manage crowd control, traffic flow and security throughout the festival period.
Airport officials advised passengers to monitor traffic conditions closely, plan routes in advance and arrive at the airport well ahead of scheduled departure times during the EDC weekend.
