The Fire and Rescue Department along with medical department officials at Phuket airport held their first fire-extinguishing exercise for the fiscal year 2024 “to provide firefighting personnel with skills and experience. and ready to work when an actual event occurs,” Mr Monchai said.
The exercise was held at a designated fire exercise area near the start of the runway, he said.
“Moreover, it also complies with the requirements of The Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand [CAAT], which has designated that the airport must conduct firefighting drills with real fire,” he added.
The firefighting exercise is held every three months, Mr Monchai noted.
“The exercise increases skills for safety and to enhance readiness in various areas, and builds confidence among service users,” he said.
