Details of the Phuket A-Class Plus 2023 tournament, taking place on Saturday and Sunday (Dec 2 and 3) at the Phuket Country Club golf course in Kathu, were revealed at a press conference yesterday (Nov 29).

The press conference was overseen by Thammawat Wongcharoenyot, President of the Phuket Sports Association, who was joined by: Praphan Khanthakul, head of the organising committee for the tournament; Prachuap Sapcharoen, representative of Toker Muay Thai; Police Lieutenant Colonel Boonthob Lanthong, special prosecutor, Labour Litigation Division, Region 8, and advisor for the Phuket A-Class competition; Chanwut Hongyok, General Manager of the Phuket Country Club Golf Course; and Phuket Country Club professional golfer Jiraphan Na Latuantung.

Mr Praphan explained that the tournament is open to all Class A and Senior Pro golfers from around the Andaman region and is an invaluable opportunity for players to develop their game. Similarly, elder players who may have retired are equally welcome to join, he said.

Mr Praphan added that the tournament will help promote tourism in Phuket due to the number of high calibre regional golfing professionals that will be taking part and can inspire the next generation of young golfers emerging locally.

The tournament is a stroke play competition over 36 holes and two days with no handicap deployed. There is B200,000 of total prize money up for grabs, although it was not specified how this would be split amongst finishers.

However, it was confirmed at the press conference that there will be a hole-in-one prize of B15,000 per hole for anyone able to achieve it, as well as many other special prizes across the two days.

Participation numbers are limited and those interested should contact Pro Mong Praphan Khanthakul at 092-870-0462 or LINE ID : mong_phuket.
