Pol Maj Piyaphong Aensan, Pattaya tourist police inspector, said the ladyboy suspect, identified as Wichai Sripalung, was arrested yesterday in front of a bar on Walking Street on the south end of Beach Road.
Police said a security patrol alerted officers to the incident on Walking Street and when officers arrived at the scene they found Mr Wichai and a male foreigner with a deep cut to his head.
The foreigner was identified as Michael Mary, 55, an Irish tourist.
Mr Mary told police that when he passed a bar along Walking Street, Mr Wichai approached him and made a sexual advance.
The tourist turned down Mr Wichai's offer and tried to walk away.
The ladyboy persisted with the offer, which angered Mr Mary.
He pushed Mr Wichai in the chest, knocking him to the ground, police said.
Mr Wichai hit the tourist over the head with his high-heeled shoe, cutting Mr Mary's head, police said.
Mr Wichai admitted attacking Mr Mary, police said.
The ladyboy was taken to Muang Pattaya station for questioning.
He was charged over the assault on the tourist, police said.
