Officers from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and the Crime Suppression Division (CSD) arrested ‘Ms Katchamon’ in the parking area of a hotel on Thaweewong Rd in Patong, on charges including public fraud and introducing false information into a computer system, reports the CIB.
According to police, the arrest followed complaints from victims who transferred money to purchase goods advertised on Facebook but never received the products. Investigators traced the payments to bank accounts allegedly owned by Ms Katchamon, which police described as ‘mule accounts’ used by fraudsters to receive transferred funds.
Police said investigations found the same accounts had been used in multiple fraud cases, leading to three warrants being issued against the suspect by courts in Phuket, Chiang Mai and Thanyaburi. Total damages across the cases were reported at more than B100,000.
The warrants included Phuket Provincial Court warrant No. 1204/2568 dated Dec 23, 2025; Chiang Mai Provincial Court warrant No. J.1943/2568 dated Oct 20, 2025; and Thanyaburi Provincial Court warrant No. 113/2569 dated Feb 6, 2026.
Officers received information that the suspect would be at the Patong hotel parking lot and moved in to make the arrest. Police said Ms Katchamon was informed of the warrants before being taken into custody and handed over to investigators at Phuket City Police Station for legal action.
During initial questioning, the suspect denied the allegations and claimed she had only lent the bank accounts to a friend, unaware they would be used in criminal activity.
The operation was carried out under the direction of senior officers from the CIB and the CSD, including CIB Commissioner Pol Lt Gen Natthasak Chaowanasai and Crime Suppression Division Commander Pol Maj Gen Pattanasak Bubphasuwan.
