Motorists have been urged to avoid Prachanukroh Rd, at the southern end of Patong, and Thaweewong Rd, also simply called the Patong beach road, from 4pm to 8pm.
The parade will begin at the southern end of Phra Metta Rd and make its traditional route along Prachanukroh Rd towards Patong Beach, where it will continue along the beach road to the beach end of Bangla Rd ‒ where the main festivities will be held during the three-day carnival.
The parade, which always draws large crowds, is one of the highlights of the annual festival, held each year to mark the tourism high season. The festival this year marks its 39th year, and has reclaimed its original name, ‘Patong Festival 2025’ The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Patong Paradise’.
Patong Municipality in its announcement apologised for any inconvenience caused by the parade and urged road users to plan alternative routes during the affected hours.
To ease congestion, a free shuttle bus service will operate from Laem Phet Sports Stadium to the event area between 4pm and 9pm.
Patong Festival 2025 will run from Dec 19-21, with shopping zones opening daily from 12pm and stage performances from 6pm to 11.30pm.
Highlights include the grand opening parade, boat races and fireworks and free concerts and DJ performances. Admission to all activities is free.
As Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri previously noted, the concerts will go ahead in a subdued tone, and will start only after observing a period of silence as a mark of respect for the passing of Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.
Among the artists highlighted to take part in this year’s festivities are Queen on Street, Gypsy Sun, Songkarn Rangsan, Green Light Band, Olympus, Gypsy Sun, Morning Eating and Maw Meow.
