The woman was caught clearly on CCTV stealing the amulet and cash from a smoothie shop on June 27. Since then more CCTV footage and images have been shared online showing her involved in several other thefts
One social media page, titled "1 Day, Over 1,000 Stories in Phuket", reported that on the night of June 25, the thief struck six different shops, causing considerable damage. Victims submitted the evidence to the Patong Police Station, the page reported.
CCTV footage from three shops revealed the same female thief, previously caught stealing cash and the gold amulet, operating in the early hours when the shops were closed and unstaffed.
Despite clear video evidence, Patong police have yet to apprehend the suspect.
‘Ms Ann’ (not her real name), the owner of a restaurant on Phra Barami Rd and another victim of the thief, recounted her experience.
Her shop was closed with no staff present when the thief stole a mobile phone but failed to access the cash register.
The same night, the thief also targeted a nearby Indian restaurant, stealing cash.
Ms Ann reported the incidents to Patong Police and provided them with CCTV footage.
However, the thief remains at large, prompting Ms Ann to urge the authorities to expedite the investigation and capture the suspect.
