Patong raid nets more than 4,000 items of fake-brand clothing

PHUKET: Police from the Royal Thai Police Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD).and officials from Department of Intellectual Property yesterday (Oct 16) arrested two men at the popular OTOP market in Patong and seized more than 4,000 fake brand-name products.

The raid, at 5:45pm, targetted two unnamed stalls in the market.

At one stall, the officers arrested Prasarn Kaewprapa, 51, after he was found with 1,303 items of fake-brand clothing imitating 12 brands.

At another stall, officers Siriphong Padthum, 60, after he was found with 2,850 items of fake brand clothing imitating 24 brands in total.

The value of the haul was estimated by by police to be about B1.3 million.

The two men were taken to Patong Police Station to be charged.
