The award was presented at a ceremony held on Tuesday (Mar 17) at the Vayupak Convention Centre, Centara Life Hotel, Government Complex on Chaengwattana Road in Bangkok.
Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri led the delegation to receive the award, accompanied by Deputy Mayor Awut Noochet, Public Health and Environment Division Director Juljira Theerachitkul, and municipal staff.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment through the Department of Climate Change and Environment to honour local administrative organisations demonstrating excellence in sustainable urban development and environmental stewardship.
Privy Councillor Plakorn Suwannarat presided over the ceremony, while Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Raveewan Phuridej delivered the official report.
During the event, Patong Municipality also presented its initiatives and innovations in city development, highlighting efforts in environmental management and climate change adaptation. The showcase aimed to share knowledge and best practices with local government representatives from across the country, as well as to strengthen cooperation on sustainable urban development.
Municipal officials said the approaches developed in Patong could be adapted to suit other areas, helping to improve long-term resilience and preparedness for climate change nationwide.
In a statement, Patong Municipality expressed appreciation to government agencies, private sector partners, officials and residents for their support in achieving the recognition.
“We remain committed to continuously and sustainably developing Patong as a modern, clean, beautiful and safe tourism city,” the statement said.
Also recognised at the ceremony was Wichit Municipality, which received first runner-up in the National Sustainable Environmental City Assessment 2025 in the eco-industrial city category.
