Officers confirmed that 30-year-old Natee Sirisom, a native of Songkhla Province, was tracked down to an unnamed dormitory near to the Q Speed Wash & Dry launderette on Nanai Rd in Patong and arrested yesterday (Sept 8) afternoon.
He was subsequently taken to Patong Police Station to face charges relating to the theft.
The arrest warrant issued for Mr Natee stated offenses including: “Taking of other people’s property, using a vehicle to commit an offense or take that property away or in order to escape arrest, physically assault of another person causing that person to suffer physical or mental harm.”
Officers confirmed that several items had been stolen from the premises by Mr Matee, including clothes and a purse.
However, they did not elaborate on specific charges in relation to the physical assault offence stated, according to reports from the Phuket Info Center Facebook page.
When questioned why he committed the offence, officers quote Mr Matee as claiming he was unemployed and unable to pay for his rented room accommodation and therefore he decided to steal the belongings which he intended to sell in order to generate some money.
The arrest was led under the supervision of Pol. Col. Suchin Nilbodi, Superintendent of Patong Police Station; Pol. Lt. Col. Naruebodin Panglisen, deputy superintendent of the Patong Police Station; Pol. Lt. Col. Further legal action will be taken against Mr Matee, an official source confirmed although no specific details were provided at time of press.
