The 2026 Beach Volleyball Open was held at a temporary volleyball court constructed near the Bangla Police Station at Patong Beach, which saw a crowd of enthusiastic fans cheering on a multitude of competing teams.
Patong Mayor Lalita Maneesri oversaw the closing ceremony for the event at 5pm on Sunday (May 31), where prizes and trophies were distributed to winning the teams.
Joining Ms Lalita were selected members of the municipal executive committee, including the chairman of the Patong Municipal Council, which served as the event’s organising committee, in addition to representatives from various public and private sector agencies, local residents and tourists.
The 2026 Beach Volleyball Open was one of the main activities under the Phuket Pride 2026 event in Patong, a collaboration between Patong Municipality, the Andaman Power Association Phuket, and related partners.
This year, Phuket is stepping onto the world stage as the host city for the InterPride World Conference 2026, reflecting its readiness as a diverse, open, and friendly city. This initiative aims to elevate Patong’s image as an LGBT+ destination and drive soft power and the creative economy based on equality and diversity.
In addition to promoting exercise and good health the event fostered unity, understanding and coexistence based on respect for diversity, a vital force in driving Patong towards becoming a sustainable international tourist destination, organisers said.
