Officers arrested a 48-year-old Thai man and a 34-year-old Thai woman ‒ both not named ni the report by Patong Police ‒ at the entrance of Soi Ban Kamnan Wichian, off Ratchapathanusorn Rd, at around 5.45pm.
They were caught in a sting operation while allegedly selling methamphetamine, police reported.
Police seized 62 orange ya bah pills marked with ‘WY’ contained in a clear plastic bag. Officers also seized B2,300 in marked banknotes used in the sting, a Toyota Altis sedan and two mobile phones.
The man and the woman were both charged with “jointly distributing Category 1 narcotics (methamphetamine) for the purpose of trade”. They were taken to Patong Police Station for legal proceedings.
Earlier yesterday, at around 3pm, police raided a house in Soi Phisitkarin 3, Patong, arresting a 48-year-old Thai man.
A search of the premises uncovered 1,792 meth pills and 7.51 grams of crystal methamphetamine, Patong Police said.
The suspect ‒ again, not named in the report by Patong Police ‒ faces charges of “selling Category 1 narcotics for the purpose of trade without permission”, police confirmed.
All three suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue, police noted.
