The Lobster Men showed definite signs of improvement in the hard-fought 1-1 draw with Nara United FC last Sunday at Surakul Stadium, a result and performance that will have generated much confidence going into Match Day 4 tomorrow.

About Phatthalung FC

Under coach Piriya Chanpon, Phatthalung FC started their campaign in a similar fashion to PAFC as they lost their opening two games. However, a win against the Killer Roosters of Yala City last week will have no doubt boosted confidence and they should not be underestimated. This well-run club came second in the Southern League last year and were runners-up in the National Southern League stage to Bangkok. They then lost unluckily to Mahasarakham SBT in the third-place promotion playoff. They will be itching to go one step further this year.

Phatthalung FC are affectionately known as ‘The Swiftlets’ (we presume that it is linked to the birds which are meant to be linked to the area) and have a lovely logo. They play at Phatthalung Province Stadium which has fully functioning floodlights, which will make for a welcome change.

Kick-off is 6pm at Phatthalung Province Stadium, Phatthalung. Tickets cost B100 (concessions B80).

Where is Phatthalung Town and what to do there?

On our last away trip to Satun (population 21,000), we stumbled upon Bobby’s Pizza restaurant. Its owner, Bobby, told us in a broad Scouse accent that he moved to Satun from Phattalung because it was too quiet, so we are not expecting much!

On paper, it seems an interesting small provincial town in one of the only landlocked provinces in the South. Phattalung Town (population 38,000) is built around Khao Ok Thalu mountain and is a 5-hour drive south of Phuket. The town is famous for its Thale Noi Bird-watching Festival, based around the water park of the same name. This is perhaps the place to go to catch sight of a wild swift.

PAFC News:

The squad has been reeling from the outbreak of a virus and is waiting for test results for key defender Mark and captain Kla.

Elsewhere, decisions will need to be made on if and how to integrate Torky and Bebe, and whether they can play as part of a functioning starting eleven.

Bank rightly made Thai League 3 South Team of the Week for his goal agaimst Nara United FC last Sunday where the home crowd of 900 at Surakul was the third highest in the division.

Outlook:

We are predicting a 1-0 away win for the Lobsters, prompting the start of a positive run through November.
