The course, entitled “Jiu-Jitsu Coach Training Program for Professional Standards 2026”, was held at the CIC Skills Development and Learning Center in Saphan Hin on the weekend of June 27-28 and saw 26 students of differing ages and levels take part from various southern provinces.
Thammawat Wongcharoenyos, President of the Sport Association of Phuket and Sports Authority of Thailand Committee Member, oversaw the certificate distribution ceremony on June 28 to all students who successfully passed the course.
“This training was specifically for students based in the southern region of Thailand who want to develop and establish themselves as coaches within the sport of jiu-jitsu,” commented Mr Thammawat.
“It is designed to share and impart knowledge and technique in order to improve the overall standard of the jiu-jitsu industry nationally and to elevate the standards of sports personnel to an international level while creating a network of quality coaches nationwide,” he added.
“I congratulate all the students here today who attended and passed the course and wish them all well in their future endeavours.”
The latest training course is part of the Jiu-Jitsu Association of Thailand’s policy to develop coaches and athletes within the sport throughout the country. It came after the Association previously admitted a shortfall of quality in past coach development courses that failed to adequately meet the necessary standards, both in terms of quantity and quality.
Joining Mr Thammawat were: Dr Chanchai Suksuwan, President of the Jiu-Jitsu Association of Thailand; Sumet Akrapong, director of the Phuket office of the Jiu-Jitsu Association of Thailand; Thachanon Angkhanapilas, President of the Phuket City Municipality Council; in addition to selected coaches, sports personnel and athletes from various jiu-jitsu gyms and acadamies based in a number of southern provinces.
