The man arrested, named as Somsak ‘Han’ Buntaeng, 48, was taken into custody at about 2pm, police reported.
The arrest followed an undercover operation following a tip-off that a ‘Mr Han’ had been released from prison after serving a sentence for drug charges only to return to Pa Khlok to sell drugs to teenagers, police said.
Police pointed out that a search warrant was not required in finding the drugs as it was an “emergency situation”, and that waiting for a search warrant to be issued by the court might give the suspect the opportunity to move or destroy the drugs - despite police officers being already present at the scene.
Police also said that a warrant was not required as Somsak had given his consent for police to search the house.
Somsak voluntarily admitted that the seized crystal meth was his, police reported.
Somsak explained that he received deliveries from a ‘Mr Bang’ (real name and surname unknown), who later gave him instructions on delivering drugs to other members in his network.
Mr Bang gave him 5g of ya ice as payment for holding onto and delivering the drugs, he said.
Somsak was taken to Thalang Police Station and charged with illegal possession of Category 1 narcotic for sale without permission.
Somsak recognised the charge against him, police said.
Thalang Police officers are continuing their investigation into the network, police said.
