In the first case, police arrested two suspects, Songwut ‘Ek’ Taeng-Uthai, 48, and Sarayut ‘Ek’ Hanphachonkit, 42, both residents of Patipat Rd in Phuket Town.
Police seized 1,019.05 grammes of ya ice, six methamphetamine pills (ya bah), three digital scales, two mobile phones believed to be used in drug-related activities and 17 other items of evidence.
Two motorcycles ‒ a Honda Click 125 and a Honda Wave 100 ‒ were also impounded as part of the asset investigation, with a combined estimated value of B150,000.
The duo faces charges of jointly distributing Category 1 narcotics (ice and methamphetamine) without permission, possession for the purpose of sale and illegal use of Category 1 narcotics, Phuket City Police confirmed
In what was cited as the second case, Prayoon ‘A’ Chumbuachan, 35, of Soi Ton Pho, was apprehended with 200mg of ya ice in his possession. He is accused of possessing and using Category 1 narcotics without permission.
Police also executed an arrest warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court on Sept 8, 2023 (No. 258/2566), for a previous drug offense involving methamphetamine.
In a third case, Phuket City Police reported that a man and a woman were arrested at a residence on Soi Ton Pho. The suspects were identified as Samruthai ‘Meow’ Na Nakhon, 27, a local resident, and Chatmethee ‘Beer’ Yongcha, 27, of Trang Province.
Police found the couple in possession of one ya bah pill and two items of drug paraphernalia.
The pair has been charged with joint possession and illegal use of methamphetamine’, police reported.
All five suspects were taken into custody and transferred to the Phuket City Police Station for legal proceedings, Phuket City Police reported.
Phuket City Police did not report the dates and times of the five arrests.
Phuket City Police also did not clearly state whether the cases were connected.
Police said they were continuing their investigation into the broader drug network.
