The operation formed part of the Ministry of Interior’s nationwide ‘Operation 90 Days’ anti-drugs campaign and was carried out by the Mueang Phuket District Special Operations Unit on Friday night (July 3).

Officials said the raid targeted Soi Mookdee in Moo 2, Rawai, following complaints from local residents that a group of people had been selling and using illegal drugs in the area, creating a nuisance and posing a danger to nearby homes and businesses.

The operation was led by Deputy District Chief Akkra Suwattikul, together with fellow Deputy District Chiefs Apichat Chantrawong and Hirun Heedchan, supported by members of the Mueang Phuket District Volunteer Defence Corps.

During the operation, officers arrested one Thai man on suspicion of possessing Category 1 narcotics with intent to sell after seizing 88 methamphetamine (ya bah) pills.

In a separate case, a Myanmar national was arrested after allegedly riding a motorcycle while under the influence of drugs. Officers also seized approximately 0.28 grammes of crystal meth (ya ice) from the suspect.

Both men were taken into custody and handed over, along with the seized narcotics, to investigators at Chalong Police Station for further legal action.

District officials said the operation reflects the province’s continuing commitment to suppressing narcotics and responding to complaints from local communities.

Authorities added that proactive inspections and enforcement operations will continue across Mueang Phuket District as part of the ‘Operation 90 Days’ campaign to combat drug trafficking and improve public safety.
