The highly-rated 23-year-old Iranian, who trained at the Tiger Muay Thai & MMA Training Camp on Soi Ta-iad in Chalong, was involved in an incident near the exit of the tunnel on the west side of Chaofa Road in Rawai around 8am this morning.

Pol. Lt. Col. Wiriyaphong Srinuanpan from Chalong Police Station was notified of the accident and proceeded to the scene at 8:08am to discover Aminipour’s body laying stricken on the road and a damaged Yamaha big bike nearby.

The man had endured a heavy injury to his head and was rushed to Chalong Hospital in an ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

Police revealed initial investigations suggest Aminipour lost control of the bike and collided with the curb before crashing.

Photos of the incident taken soon after it occurred by a passerby suggest Aminipour had suffered serious head trauma in the incident.

His body was transferred from Chalong Hospital to Vachira Phuket Hospital where a full autopsy will be performed.

Aminipour had fought five times for ONE Championship, Asia’s largest sports media property, winning four of his bouts.

His most recent contest was three weeks ago on Dec 22 when he suffered a loss to Kulabdam Sor Jor Piek Uthai on the undercard of Tawanchai vs Superbon at ONE Friday Fights 46 at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok.

Tributes immediately appeared on social media channels following the confirmation of Aminipour’s passing, with Muay Thai Authority posting on Facebook: “So sad to hear about the loss Nak Muay Fariyar Aminipour - Our condolences to his family, partners and Iranian community. You will be remembered, rest in peace warrior.”

Aminipour’s gym Tiger Muay Thai took to Instagram to pay tribute to “the extremely talented” fighter who would be “missed greatly and will remain in all of our thoughts”.

“At only 23 years old, lion-hearted Fariyar had already accomplished so much, and was well on track to achieving his dream of becoming a ONE world champion. Gone far, far too soon due to a tragic accident,” the Instagram post said.
