Patong Police were notified at 8:45am yesterday (Feb 2) of the death of Ashwaq Salim Mohamed Al Nadabi, an Omani national, who had been receiving treatment at the hospital.

Acting Pol Lt Tharnnathon Meechina, a deputy investigator at Patong Police Station, said officers attended the emergency room at Patong Hospital, where the woman was found deceased on a hospital bed.

According to the attending physician, Dr Waruchaporn Wangsuk, the woman had been admitted for treatment after complaining of pain in her groin and subsequently developed additional symptoms. Medical examinations, including an X-ray, revealed that she was suffering from a severe lung infection.

Doctors have yet to confirm the specific disease the woman was suffering from. However, hospital staff confirmed the severe lung infection and said further medical investigations are underway in an effort to determine the underlying cause of death.

Despite treatment, the patient later died at the hospital at about 11:30pm Sunday night.

Police said there were no signs of physical assault or suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A post-mortem examination was conducted jointly by police investigators and the attending doctor at Patong Hospital. The case has been registered as a post-mortem case for further investigation in accordance with legal procedures.

Patong Police reported that they had contacted the woman’s relatives and were coordinating with the Omani Embassy to arrange the necessary formalities.
