The operation took place at about 6:15pm last night (Dec 18), reportedly at a shop located on Bang Yai Rd, next to the parking area of Bangkok Hospital Siriroj.
The team was led by Thiti Bunyasathien, Deputy District Chief for Security Affairs, together with officers from Phuket City District Volunteer Defence Corps (OrSor), Company 1.
Two men, identified only as ‘Mr A’, 35, and ‘Mr B’, 27, both registered as residents of Songkhla Province, were arrested at the scene. Officers seized a total of 1,251 packs of cigarettes believed to be untaxed.
The suspects were charged with jointly possessing goods that had not been taxed, or had not been taxed in full, in violation of Sections 203 and 204 of the Excise Act B.E. 2560 (2017).
Both the suspects and the seized cigarettes were handed over to investigating officers at Wichit Police Station for further legal proceedings.
