Kathu District Chief Akkarapol Suttirak Chit-Supapat led the inspection, joined by district and municipal officials, including Kamala Tambon Administrative Organisation (OrBorTor) representatives and local leaders.
The inspection focused on two key areas: Khlong Hua Khuan and Khlong Ket Nee, both of which have faced wastewater contamination concerns.
At Khlong Hua Khuan, the Kamala OrBorTor is working on constructing wastewater barriers and installing a water pumping system to direct wastewater into a treatment pond.
The project is expected to be completed within a month. Officials noted that water flowing into the sea was not dark or heavily polluted at the time of inspection.
For Khlong Ket Nee, authorities have been using lime and EM microorganisms to improve water quality.
Local businesses have also contributed by enhancing their wastewater treatment systems, using additional EM microorganisms, and planting aquatic plants to aid in filtration.
The Kathu District Office and other relevant agencies will continue monitoring the situation to ensure environmental preservation and maintain confidence among both residents and tourists visiting Kamala Beach, said Kathu District Chief Mr Akkarapol.
