It followed a protest by around 500 people outside Provincial Hall yesterday, who raised concerns that a community of Red Shirt political supporters were about to open a village at Nai Yang (see earlier story here).
However, V/Gov Somkiat said any plans for such a setup would require an application for permission from the Governor.
Instead, he confirmed that a group of Red Shirt supporters were expected to come to Nai Yang Beach on Sunday to rally support, but not to open a village.
“They will make a speech about their point of view, which is their democratic right and is not illegal,” the V/Gov said.
“However, to prevent any fighting, police and security officials will be put in place in the Nai Yang area.”
