No alcohol sales in Phuket on Chakri Day

PHUKET: Next Monday, April 6, is Chakri Day, marking the anniversary of the ascension to the Siamese throne of King Rama I, King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke, the founder of the Chakri Dynasty that has ruled Thailand ever since.

The anniversary is a public holiday.

The Phuket News has been informed by an assistant to Phuket Police commander Maj Gen Pachara Boonyasit that alcohol sales will be banned for 24 hours from midnight at the end of April 5. The only exception will be sales in hotel bars.
