An official announcement by Airports of Thailand (AOT) stated, “Airports of Thailand (AOT) has declared the closure of Don Muang airport from 7pm on October 25th as flood waters flowed on to the runways and affected the lighting.
“Nok Air, which operates all flights from Don Muang airport, announced the suspension of services from noon yesterday.
“Orient Thai moved its flight base from Don Muang to Suvarnabhumi airport, from 3pm [yesterday] until further notice.”
The government’s Flood Relief Operations Centre (FROC) has announced it will remain at Don Muang; its main operations are on the second floor, though it is having to move its packing centre, where relief packages for flood victims are put together for distribution, from the first floor.
Evacuees staying in the airport are also being moved to upper floors.
The AOT said that anyone wishing to know about cancelled or delayed flights should contact the relevant airline direct.
