The venue’s soft opening was held last Wednesday (Sept 23), with the grand opening tentatively to be held next month.
Although the venue is open from 4pm to midnight, Skye aims to cater to a wide range of people, while specifically catering to people heading to and from Phuket International Airport, and the airline crew and staff who work there.
“We welcome families,” company director Mrs Able explained. “For example, we have shower rooms that anybody at the beach can use. So people can come here just to enjoy the beach.”
Key to attracting the right clientele, though, will be the food.
“We are not just a beach club. We are an awesome restaurant,” Ms Able said proudly. “We want to offer the best food of all the beach clubs on the island.”
To achieve that, Skye has brought in rising star chef Saharat Tangthai, who has worked at several of Bangkok’s most famous restaurants, including Capri at Asiatique, The Riverfront and of special note Gaggan, which was this year voted the best restaurant in Asia by the prestigious Asia’s 50 Best restaurants.
In attracting airport workers and passengers, Skye is offering a range of ‘soft opening” discounts, including 10 per cent discounts to any guests with proof of flight one week before departure.
“We are also offering 5% off to all persons who book reservations via Facebook, and all crew and airline staff working at Phuket Airport can receive 10% off,” Ms Able explained.
The opening of the beach club comes after years of noticing the growing development in the north of the island, she added.
“We could see everything slowly coming together in the north of the island, and we had an opportunity to do this, so we went for it,” Ms Able explained.
“We work hard and just wanted to follow our dream. We saw the chance to fill a niche in the north of the island, and provide an option – something of quality – for people who live up here or regularly pass through the area.”
