The bakery offers European-style breads, pastries, cookies, and desserts, all whipped up by a European expert.
The bakery is located just in the middle of Kathu, on Wichit Songkram Rd, before heading up to Patong Hill (opposite Tiger Kingdom), so it's fairly easy to get to.
The Phuket News recently headed to the bakery to sample a few of their specialties.
As soon as I walked in, I felt like I had stepped into a winter cavern, with all its dark brown wood décor and a warm homely feeling. It brought back memories of my childhood in Canada, where we would spend Christmas curled up on the couch with a warm hot chocolate in hand.
The ambience and relaxed atmosphere makes guests feel at ease and it is the perfect place for either a go-to coffee or a long lunch in the upstairs area by the trendy, youthful bookshelves and huge, inviting leather sofas.
The staff were all friendly and polite, and there to meet your every need. First up, they brought out a few appetisers, including plates of cold-cuts, potato salad, garlic bread, cheese and olives.
Following this, traditional pastries were brought out, including tempting chocolate and sweet almond croissants and other typical delicious Danish pastries, each as inviting as the next.
After we started to fill up on appetisers, the staff then surprised us with a huge plate of homemade pizza, various plates of spaghetti, as well as avocado bruschetta.
Just when I thought we were done, they then brought out an array of their signature sandwiches,
including their BLT, a typical Western favourite concocting of bacon, lettuce, and tomatoes on some homemade rye bread, as well as the Cuban option which consisted of ham, pork pastrami, cheddar cheese, butter, and dill pickles. And who could forget my personal favourite, the Reuben sandwich, which was a layer of tasty beef pastrami, cheddar cheese, and sauerkraut on soft rye bread.
Other sandwiches and baguettes included the smoked chicken as well as the grilled ham and cheese.
All of the bakery's breads, pastries and cakes are handmade and cooked to perfection, so if you're looking for that perfect place to satisfy all of your Western habits, then Zurich Bread may just be the café for you.
