The man, described as being between 25 and 30 years old, was spotted walking past the Bangkok Bank branch in Tha Ruea, before heading toward the Heroines Monument. Witnesses said he appeared clean and well-groomed, and showed no signs of aggression.
A local vendor, ‘Ms Sa’ (not her real name), 50, told reporters she saw the man while shopping at the market. “He didn’t speak or cause any trouble, just kept walking. I’ve never seen him before,” she said.
Concerned about his wellbeing, she contacted the village headman, Noppharit Rungruang, who arrived on the scene with village security volunteers and police officers from Thalang Police Station.
The man, believed to be a middle-aged Myanmar national, was walking against traffic toward the Heroines Monument and was reportedly incoherent, possibly intoxicated or mentally unstable. He was unable to provide his name or address.
Authorities took him into custody and transported him to Thalang Police Station for further investigation.
At last report police were working to identify his employer and determine appropriate next steps in accordance with legal procedures.
