The special tennis match was disclosed at a press conference held at the Grand Hyatt Erawan by Mr Suwat Lipatawallop, president of the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand, and Mr Supachai Chearavanont, vice chairman of the Charoen Pokephand group and CEO of True Corporation.

Mr Suwat said the two top-rank tennis players used to participate in Thailand Open tournaments but never won the championship. So this special match will be a big comeback for the duo in Thailand, he added.

He went on to say that the organising committee had been working out the programme of activities for the two players to promote tourism in Thailand. More details of the match will be available soon.

Mr Supachai, meanwhile, said the match will be an inspiration for Thai youths to turn to sports. As part of CP’s “turning dream into an opportunity programme, he said selected youths from sports academies and disabled Thai national tennis players will be invited to see the match.

The budget to organise the match and related activities was estimated at B150 million which will include B84 million appearance money for the two players.

Tickets for the match will be priced from B1,000-5,000 and are available now at thaitcketmajor.com.
