A king cobra measuring four metres in length and weighing around seven kilograms was captured at a house in Kamala yesterday afternoon (Mar 6) while a second which seen nearby took off before rescue worker had a chance to catch it. (See story here.)

Kamala rescue workers today (Mar 7) went back to the worker camp on Soi Namtok Bangwan in Kamala, where the second king cobra had not been caught yesterday, to search for it again.

Rescue workers arrived to find a dead king cobra.

One of the rescue workers said, “The king cobra was killed yesterday (Mar 6) by Myanmar workers at 6:30pm. They did not notify us to catch it as they were afraid that the king cobra might kill workers here, so they killed it by themselves.

The king cobra was the same size as the first one that we caught yesterday. We believe the king cobra was looking for a place to lay eggs,” the rescue worker said.

“The king cobra that was caught yesterday will be released to the Khao Phra Thaeo Non-Hunting Area in Thalang,” the rescue worker noted.
