Pol Lt Kraisorn Bunprasop of the Thalang Police was informed of the accident,  in front of Building 51 at the government housing estate, at about 4:10pm.

Officers arrived ot find a white Hino truck registered in Phuket crashed head-on into a Toyota four-door pickup truck that suffered heavy damage and had its rear end lifted into the air as it had been pushed onto a tree.

Beside the delivery truck was a white Isuzu pickup registered in Phang Nga overturned on its side with heavy damage.

Mr Ko Ko Aung identified himself to police as the usual driver of the delivery truck, but explained that he was not in the truck when the accident happened.

Mr Ko Ko Aung said that the truck belonged to SuperCheap Co Ltd and that he and Myanmar national Akar Hein, 20, were delivering water to Building 86 at the estate.

While Mr Ko Ko Aung was out of the truck counting the delivery, Mr Akar entered the truck and started the engine.

However, instead of stepping on the brake, Mr Akar stepped on the accelerator, causing the truck to lunge forward.

The truck rammed into the first pickup and pushed it across the car park until it hit the second pickup before coming to a stop.

Luckily, no people were injured in the incident.

Mr Akar admitted to police that was exactly what had happened. “I don’t know, but I went to step on the brake but stepped on the accelerator, causing the truck to crash,” he said.

Both pickups and the delivery truck were taken to Thalang Police Station while police continued their investigation.

At the time of the police report, officers were still trying to contact the owners of the pickups to inform them of the damage done in the incident.
