Myanmar man stabbed to death in Phuket rubber plantation

PHUKET: Police are currently looking for five men who are possible suspects in the murder of Myanmar man found stabbed to death in a rubber plantation in Patong last night (Oct 19).

Capt Yingyong Chuaykit was called to investigate the murder of a Myanmar migrant worker who had been stabbed to death at hut in a rubber plantation on Kaleam Rd in Patong.

It is alleged that five men had gone to the hut and that one of the five had stabbed the victim.

Police arrived at the scene and were led to the hut where the body of Kyaw Soe, 44, lye lifeless with three stab wounds to his chest.

The victim’s wife told police that they were both working in the rubber plantation and at 9pm five men, Thai and Myanmar nationals, came to see her husband to collect a debt.

Mr Kyaw came out of the hut and gave the men B6,000 before closing the door on them. The suspects refused to leave and asked for more money. Mr Kyaw then opened a window and told them that he had no more money to give.

One of the suspects then proceeded to stab Mr Kyaw with a trident.

Mr Kyam’s wife said she screamed for help and this caused the men to flee.

The plantation owner called and reported the incident to police, but when help arrived Mr Kyaw had already died.

The victim’s body was taken to Patong Hospital while the victim’s wife went to the police station to file a complaint.
