Myanmar man killed in motorbike accident

PHUKET: A 29-year-old Myanmar man died when his motorbike skidded into a roadside barrier then slammed into a power pole on the bypass road early this morning (Nov 8).

Phuket City Police were called to the scene, near the site of Saengrung Co Ltd, at 12:30am.

Officers and rescue workers from the Ksuldharm Foundation arrived to find the body of Thet Paing (also known as Thet Pai), 29, beside the roadside barrier. He had suffered fatal head injuries.

His heavily damaged Honda Wave motorbike was beside the road more than 30 metres from the impact point.

Police surmised that Mr Thet was travelling northbound along the bypass road when he lost control of his motorbike, causing it to collide with the roadside barrier before striking an electric pole.

The force of the impact threw him from his motorbike, resulting in fatal injuries.

Mr Thet’s body was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for formal post-mortem examination before releasing it to relatives.

According to national road safety agency ThaiRSC, 123 people have died in road accidents in Phuket this year, with a further 21,477 people injured in accident’s on the island’s roads.
