Chalong Police were notified at about 5:30pm that a man had been found hanged inside Room 5 of a workers’ camp in Moo 2, Rawai.
Investigating officer Lt Col Kanen Somrak arrived at the scene with a forensic doctor from Vachira Phuket Hospital to conduct an examination.
Police identified the deceased as 28-year-old Myanmar national Mr Win Naing.
According to the police report, Mr Win was found sitting on a plastic water tank after allegedly hanging himself with an electrical wire tied to a metal beam inside his room. Officers reported no signs of assault or struggle at the scene.
Workers’ camp caretaker Suriya Sittisri told police that Mr Win had been employed painting boats and had lived at the camp for about one year.
Mr Suriya said Mr Win had not been working for about three weeks and was last seen at about 1pm on Tuesday (May 26) complaining of back and stomach pain.
He was discovered dead at about 5pm yesterday.
The forensic doctor estimated that Mr Win had been dead for at least 30 hours before his body was found.
After the post-mortem examination was completed, the body was released to relatives for traditional funeral rites.
The death comes just two days after another Myanmar worker was found hanged at a construction site in Chalong.
In that case, 37-year-old Myanmar national Mr Nan Oo was found dead at the Chanakan Construction Project site in Soi Na Yai on Monday morning (May 25).
Police reported that Mr Nan Oo had allegedly hanged himself from a construction beam high above the ground. No signs of foul play were found.
