Police were called to the Chanakan Construction Project site in Soi Na Yai, Chalong, at about 7am after the man’s employer reported that a worker had been found hanged at the site.

Investigating officer Lt Col Arthit Thonganan of Chalong Police arrived at the scene with a forensic doctor and rescue workers to find the body of a 37-year-old Myanmar national identified as Mr Nan Oo.

Police reported that the man had hanged himself from a construction beam high above the ground at the site. Scaffolding and a ladder were found nearby, and officers noted there were no signs of assault or struggle.

Kyaw Htay, a Myanmar national and site supervisor who discovered the body, told police that Mr Nan Oo had worked at the construction site for more than 10 years.

He said the deceased had travelled alone to Thailand for work while his family remained in Myanmar. Although he was unaware of any recent personal stress, Mr Kyaw Htay said Mr Nan Oo had previously expressed a desire to return home to Myanmar.

The body was transported to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further examination and procedures.

Chalong Police Superintendent Col Surasak Jaidee confirmed that officers are continuing their investigation, though initial findings indicate no foul play was involved.
