Patong Lifeguard Supervisor, Mr Somprasong Seangchart, told The Phuket News yesterday “We were alerted at 5:30pm on Tuesday that one of three men fishing near the Paradise Viewpoint Restaurant, opposite Soi Phabaramei 9 in Kalim had gone missing after he fell into the sea when hit by a big wave.

Kusoldharm rescue workers, rescuers from Kamala Local Administration Office (OrBorTor) and our lifeguards helped search for the victim, named as 31-year-old Myanmar national So, but we could not find him because of the high tide and weather,” he said.

However, at 7:50am this morning Patong Police notified us that the body of Mr So had been found washed up next to the rocks close to where he had been fishing,” he added.

The body of Mr So was taken to Patong hospital.
