Rawai police and rescue officers inspected the body of the man, estimated to be 30-35 years old.
They found signs that the victim might have been hit on the head with a blunt object, and a nylon rope was tied tightly around the man’s neck. The victim had been dead at least 24 hours.
Police believe that the victim may have been a Burmese worker who had been murdered and dumped into the sea.
The remains were taken to Vachira hospital while police tried to gather more information about the victim.
